How to avoid E.coli bacterial
infection in poultry farms. ?
E.coli is one of the major crises in
poultry farms. E. coli is a bacterial infection. This is a chance seeking
bacteria in poultry sheds. If the immunity of the chickens is slightly reduced
or When the level of E. coli bacteria increases in Drinking water ,it become infectectious. 90% of E. coli
infections are caused by non- sanitized
water.
E. Coli bacteria infect more than
half of flock and cause a rapid increase in mortality.Chickens that do not die
will not grow properly and do not reach the sales live weight.Otherwise
the feed conversion capacity will be significantly reduced and more feed will
be required for growth.
How can this be prevented ??
If you pay close attention to the
following, We can protect our chickens from E. coli bacteria.
Water is the major nutrient for chickens. Poultry need water water
than expensive soya protein, maize and starter feed .Chickens drink 2.5 times
as much water as they feed a day, and three times as much in summer. We should
take water as an important nutrient. As
we got the same in low price we are not given the correct importance..
It is through this water that E.
coli bacteria enter chickens. Therefore, chickens should be given only clean water
that has been sanitized. We should give the chicken cleaner water than we use at
home.
1. What are the
things to look for before starting a poultry farm?
Before starting the farm, the water
content and pH (acidity) should be checked in the water authority's lab. Water
with a TDS (total dissolved Solids) above 600 and a pH above 9 is not suitable
for poultry farming. Our chickens do not reach full growth at the intended
time.E. Coli infections will be also
more common.
2. Things to
consider before unloading chicks.
After one batch, the water tank and
the inside of the pipeline must be thoroughly cleaned before the next batch is unloaded.
Wash the water tank with bleaching powder.Bacterial lubrication (biofilm) may
have formed inside the pipeline.
Take 200 liters of water in a 1000
liter tank and add 10 liters (5%) of hydrogen peroxide solution in it and open
all the pipelines. Open the end of the pipeline. When you are sure that the
hydrogen peroxide has reached the end, close the tap and wait for 24 hours.
After 24 hours, fill the tank to full or half full with water and leave the end
of the pipeline open. All bacteria along with all the dirt inside the pipeline,
and E.Coli bacteria also go out. Then rinse once again with plane normal water. After one batch, wash the Drinker with
bleaching powder before the next batch. Then soak the drinker in disinfectant
solution for at least two hours. The amount of disinfectant should be confirmed
by looking at the note on the outside of the bottle or talking to your Vet. Disassemble
the Bell Drinker, clean and reassemble. Only then will the cleaning be
effective. Washing in attached with the pipeline will not be proper a complete cleaning.
3. Daily to do after the chicks arrive.
Chickens should be given only
disinfected water. We are doing Water purification and disinfection, especially
for E. coli bacteria. You can use 40 g of bleaching powder, 1 chlorine Bolus or
other disinfectant solution per 1000 liters of water. Of all medicines, use
only the recommended dose on the leaflet
or bottle. Or seek the help of a veterinarian. Every day in the morning, clean
the bell Drinker, with bleaching powder and something like a coarse cloth. If
there is lubrication on the surface of the drinker, it should be cleaned until
it is gone. Because these are bacterial colonies.
4. Things to
look out for during the rainy season..
E.coli Outbreaks appear to be
exacerbated during the Rainy season. This is because all water sources become
polluted during the rainy season.
Therefore, the amount of bacteria in the water also increases. So we need to
increase the amount of disinfectant we are using regularly. For those who use 40
g of bleaching powder, increase the dose to 50-60 g, for those who add one
tablet per 1,000 liters of water to 2 tablets, and for those who add 300 ml of
disinfectant solution to 450-500 ml. It is advisable to seek the advice of a
veterinarian before deciding on the dosage. If for any reason water leaks into
the litter inside the farm, the wet litter should be replaced immediately and a
new one should be spread. E,Coli is likely to come,if bird drinks water from
floor.
5. Regular Laboratory Tests.
It is mandatory to check the TDS and acidity of the water once a year in the
lab of the Water Authority. The total number of bacteria and E.coli should be
checked in the water treated with
disinfectant once in 6 months. If one disinfectant is not working in your farm
you can use another one.
Correct-regular-Proper water
sanitation .,Proper pipeline flush out, water tank cleaning and proper Lab test
along with veterinary advises you can completely avoid the E.coli infection in
your farm.
